The Thurston Nature Center welcomes and appreciates your donations. Through our status as part of the Thurston Elementary School PTO, we are a 501(c)(3) organization, so your donations may be tax deductible. The PDF linked below describes typical expenses that we incur.
Here are two ways to donate (PDF download) to Thurston Nature Center while lowering your taxes:
– By check (or online, below). This requires itemizing to get deduction.
– Using a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from a tax-deferred retirement fund such as a 401(k), 403(b) or Traditional IRA. You must be at least 70-1/2 to do a QCD. If you are required to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), your QCD counts toward the RMD amount. Instructions for taking the deduction, which does NOT require itemizing, are in the PDF in the link above.
